Traffic pattern changesOctober 20th, 2017
Daily Temporary Work Zone Signage & Traffic Control
Work on Oak Street between Union/Oak and just southwest of Smith/Oak
Intersection at SMH 2-13
(TENTATIVE SCHEDULE 10/20/17 TO 10/26/17)
Townsend Avenue will be temporarily changed to two-way traffic from the intersection
of Oak/Townsend/Pear to the intersection of Oak/Townsend/Commercial/McKown. This
will only be done when installation crews need to work on Oak Street.
At the intersection of Oak/Townsend/Pear a flagger will be positioned to help direct
traffic through Townsend Avenue as a two way street and a “Road Closed Local Traffic
Only” sign and Type II drums will be positioned at the end of Oak Street at this
intersection to limit traffic flow. At the intersection of Oak Street and Union Avenue a
similar “Road Closed Local Traffic Only” sign will be installed so that one car can pass
through. A flagger will not be utilized at Union/Oak due to reduced volume of cars
accessing the street from this end.
A “Two Way Traffic Ahead” and “Keep Right” signs will be placed near the intersection
of Oak/Townsend/Pear, at the end of McClintock Street, and on the NE side of the
Townsend/McKown/Commercial/Oak intersection to alert motorists that the street is
temporarily two way traffic. In addition, temporary no parking signs will be placed along
the east side parking of Townsend Ave. and traffic cones placed in the center of
Townsend Avenue to delineate two lanes of traffic.
Oak Street will be closed from the intersection of Howard/Oak and the intersection of
Townsend/Commercial/McKown/Oak. All Oak Street traffic will be able to exit Oak
Street at McClintock, West, or Howard Street. Vehicles needing to enter Oak Street can
do so at West Street or McClintock. Volumes from this street should be limited as
through traffic will be utilizing Townsend Avenue as a two way street.
